Lunch at Zoёs Kitchen in Baton Rouge

Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I was however, given a free lunch in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are 100% my own.

My brother and I wanted to go somewhere new for lunch. After a little deliberation, we decided on lunch at Zoёs Kitchen in Baton Rouge. Zoёs Kitchen serves up Mediterranean food with southern hospitality.

Zoë means “life” in Greek and this is embraced in every aspect of Zoës Kitchen. We embrace the Mediterranean way of life – that a fulfilled, happy life is one shared with family, good friends, great food and that eating wholesome, fresh ingredients is key. Zoës delivers goodness by giving our guests more time to celebrate life by offering simple, convenient and tasty recipes that can be enjoyed throughout life’s many occasions. Live Zoës and live life to the fullest with flavors of the Mediterranean shared among friends and family!

We walked in and were greeted immediately. Since neither of us had ever been to Zoёs Kitchen before, we grabbed for the menus and stood back a bit so others who knew what they wanted could go ahead and order. I really like the casual environment. It was nice inside, lots of great seating and I really liked that there was outdoor seating available. I could see my husband and I going back when it cools down a bit and enjoying a nice meal out on the patio one evening.

There is a lot to choose from at Zoёs Kitchen, such as soups, salads, classic sandwiches, pita sandwiches, grilled sandwiches, a nice selection of fresh sides and even a few different choices of hummus. There is a lot to choose from off of their entree menu. Kids have a nice menu to choose from, too. There are also desserts, beer, wine, and tubs to go. For busy families you can grab a dinner for four to take home.

I ordered the Steak Roll-Ups. The caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, and swiss, paired with the tender sliced tri-tip steak was delightful. My meal came with a side of my choice. I went with the marinated slaw. My brother got the Greek Chicken Marinara, with flat-grilled, orzo pasta, marinara sauce, and a side Greek salad. My brother never had orzo pasta before. It kind of threw him for a loop; his mind told him it should taste like rice, but obviously it didn’t. I had to laugh at him. Since my brother isn’t too big on anything good for him, I took his salad. The house oil & vinegar that is on every table was very good on my Greek salad.

Ordering was so easy. We were given a number to place on our table. The food was quickly delivered to our table. I wasn’t too sure if I was supposed to leave the dishes on the table, so I just watched how some other patrons did it first. Simple enough, I just had to dump my own trash and leave my dishes next to the trash can. I made sure I filled up my drink one last time before we left.

I enjoyed my lunch very much. It was a nice change from where we normally go. The food was great, the service was excellent, and to top it all off, they have a really neat Coca-Cola Freestyle drink machine that is a lot of fun to use. I made a cherry Dr. Pepper.

Simple. Tasty. Fresh!
