It’s back to school time, and once again moms and dads across the nation are packing their children’s lunches and sending them off to school. My daughter started the 1st grade a couple of weeks ago and I pack her lunch daily. I want to make sure she’ll eat everything I pack for her; she’s gone for nearly seven hours, 5-days a week, so eating smart is important. Earlier in the week, a box landed at my door step, chock-full of healthy and tasty KIND Bars, yum!
Jasmine isn’t very adventurous when it comes to food. She likes her ham and cheese sandwich with light mayonnaise, chips, and just recently she started liking sweet seedless red grapes, so that’s what I’ve packed for her. I stashed a KIND Bar in her lunch bag. When Jasmine returned home, I went to clean out her lunch bag and I noticed an empty KIND Bar wrapper. I didn’t make a huge deal out of it, didn’t want her to think much of it and really didn’t want her to think it made me happy. If you have kids, then you know why I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. Later that night, Jasmine asked me if that “yummy candy bar” in her lunch bag was good for her. I couldn’t believe she called it a candy bar! I felt like I had scored the last goal in a hockey game or something. I heard cheers in my head and I knew I had found something healthy that Jasmine enjoyed eating.
Although I wanted to save every KIND bar we were sent for Jasmine’s lunches, I couldn’t help but try a few for myself. My youngest also tried a KIND bar. He was impressed. I could tell because, for once, he was quiet. Caring is sharing, right?! I shared.
Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan is little Sean’s favorite flavor, he’s only 2, but he knows a delicious thing when he tastes it. I couldn’t pull it away from him. I really didn’t think little Sean would like it. I was worried he’d just spit it out because it’s pretty crunchy, same with Jasmine. But I was wrong, the flavors won us over.
The Almonds & Apricots in Yogurt is my favorite. It’s a tasty mixture of whole almonds, apricots and coconut.

Jasmine asked for another KIND Bar in her lunch the next morning, and I obliged. I have absolutely not problem whatsoever with giving my daughter snacks that I know are good for her.
