Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario must save Princess Peach and stop Bowser from taking over the Mushroom Kingdom.

From a visual standpoint, you have to love this game. For the first time ever, Nintendo’s popular “Paper Mario World” is merged with the regular Mario Universe. That certainly makes for an entertaining appearance, as well as a unique gameplay. Where else can you play as two different Marios in one game?
When my children first saw this game in the mailbox they were super excited to play it. They love Mario and most of the Nintendo games we own. They have never played any of the Paper Mario games before, though, so I wasn’t exactly sure what they would think.
My kids (ages 8 and 4) are quite familiar with playing video games. They know what they like, and what they don’t like. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a game they enjoyed all that much. My oldest told me it was boring. As for my 4-year-old, he told me there was way too much story line and he lost interest.
With that being said I don’t want you to take my word on it. Try this game out for yourself. If you’ve played the Paper Mario games before and love those characters, then you may very well love Paper Jam. Older children would probably enjoy this better than the younger ones, mainly for attention-span reasons.
I do want to add one thing, though. My daughter (she’s the 8-year-old), thought that Paper Mario would do special things, but he’s just like the regular Mario. That may have initially clouded her quick judgment. I find her still playing this game, so I think she might like it a bit more than she’s really letting on. It could very well be one of those games that grow on you quickly and before you know it, you’re halfway through the adventure and you are hooked right in to the story.
