Keep Yourself Comfortable at WorkNo matter what job you have or environment you work in, there comes a point in the day where your comfort levels seem to completely drop. Not only does this make you feel generally unpleasant, but it seems to make the day drag and your tasks impossible to complete. To help try and avoid being so uncomfortable, take a look into some of the following tips.

1.  Get In Some Exercise Before Showing Up for Work

One of the greatest secrets for having a comfortable work day is everything you do before you arrive. Now for some, exercise may be the complete opposite of comfortability, but if you can get a quick workout in at the start of the day it will not only improve your general well being, but it will be the perfect way to wake your body up for work. Most people slouch in, bleary-eyed, fortified by coffee and dreading the eight to ten hours they have before them.

2.  Make Sure You Have Good Posture

The practice of good posture is well worth cultivating at your work desk. It can be all too easy to start slouching over your desk as the day drags on, thinking that it’s more comfortable, but the result will only be neck, back and shoulder pain. Sit up straight to keep your spine aligned with your chair and assure your screen is at eye-level.

3.  Have the Right Footwear

Wearing the proper kind of shoes is of vital importance for workplace comfort, especially when you’re on your feet throughout the entire day. If you are going to by walking around for long periods of time, the best shoes for standing all day are ones with arched support, made from sturdy material and for women, don’t opt for a ridiculously high heel.

4.  Take Hourly Breaks

Take just a few minutes each hour to step away from your desk. Use the time to take a drink, stop by the break room and take advantage of your office’s coffee services, visit the bathroom, or simply just stretch your legs.. This will help prevent your muscles from tensing up too much and will prevent eye strain (if you’re working at a computer). As well as this, stepping away from your work space for even just a brief moment can allow you to re-focus on your tasks.

5.  Add Some Greenery to Your Office Space

One of the problems with office life is that the air tends to get stale, no matter how much the air conditioning system circulates it. Fill up some of your office space with plants that will not only help clear the air, but that will also make your surroundings more visually appealing to work in.

6.  Sort Out Your Seating

If the chair your sat in all day is causing you discomfort, do something about it. Chances are, if you inform your boss of the issue they’ll quickly want to resolve it for you. You want a chair that’s going to provide you with good back support as well as overall comfort. If you have a comfortable chair but are still feeling uncomfortable, try bringing in a small cushion to help relieve some of your strains.

Comfort in the workplace is essential for every employee. If you want to remain focused and motivated to keep working, try implementing some of the above methods.
