We all want our skin to be healthy and beautiful. By now most of us understand what we have to do if we want our skin to be healthy. Turning ordinary skin into beautiful skin, however, is a different story. When it comes to increasing our skin’s beauty it seems like everybody we meet has some super special secret that, well, never really works. So how do you do it? How do you take ordinary skin and turn it into beautiful skin that is luminous?
Nobody is going to tell you that you absolutely have to get rid of your body hair. If you love your body hair then, by all means, leave it alone. There is no reason to conform to newly traditional beauty standards if you don’t want to. That said, aesthetics isn’t the only reason to get rid of body hair. Body hair can also increase your body’s temperature, which increases sweat production. It also keeps the sweat close to the body instead of allowing it to run off. Hair is also a great introductory port for bacteria and other harmful debris you might pick up walking around. It can also itch like crazy and if you scratch too often, you’ll dry out and damage your skin. This is why it’s good to get rid of it, at least in areas that are prone to sweat and other problems like your underarms and bikini region. If you don’t want to visit an aesthetician, that’s okay. You can always choose a bikini wax kit that is made for home use.
While nobody here is going to advocate that you spend your days working up a deep tan (the sun is bad, remember?), we are going to tell you that patchy and uneven skin is less appealing than uniform skin tone. You want your skin to have an even tone all over and, if possible, you want that tone to have a healthy glow. One of the best ways to achieve this is to exfoliate. When you first start exfoliating your skin, you can expect some redness and minor irritation as old skin cells are sloughed off. Choose a gentle exfoliator for every day use and something more intense to use a couple of times a month. Always use a healing moisturizer after you exfoliate. If you simply put makeup on freshly exfoliated skin you’ll cause more problems than you solve.
You know how to keep your skin healthy. You know about drinking water and staying out of the sun and moisturizing. You know about keeping your skin clean and your pores free of debris. Taking steps to improve our skin’s health is the first step in turning ordinary skin into beautiful skin. If you’ve been skimping in this area, now is the time to stop. Put down the coffee and pick up the water bottle. Switch out that cheap chemical soap for something more natural. Buy a healing lotion and, more importantly, use it. Start using that knowledge base you’ve built up in your brain.
Again, if you don’t like makeup you don’t have to wear it. It is, however, the quickest way to achieve beautiful looking skin. Foundation and cover up can go a long way toward creating a beautiful and even look. Just make sure that you choose your products carefully and that you choose a makeup scheme that works with your skin tone. “Going outrageous” is fun every now and again but for everyday beauty, “polished natural” is better (and healthier for your skin)!
Finally, remember that beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Make sure you’re healthy and beyond that, let your gut be your guide. Do you like how you look? Great! Everybody else can take a hike. They don’t have to live in your skin. You do!
