Since moving to Louisiana six years ago I now have to deal with seasonal allergies every spring. I’m a mess, my eyes swell up, my throat itches, my nose is stuffy, sinuses get infected and my eyes are consistently red and blood-shot. I haven’t been able to find any relief so most of the time I’m forced to avoid outdoor activities and retreat indoors. Being outside for any length of time causes me to feel and look miserable. See what I mean? I wake up with a throbbing head, my morning coffee is my only comfort.

I headed off to CVS in hopes of finding a solution to my allergies. I also needed some new make-up for spring. The CVS closest to my house is older and very small so I usually only go there when I’m in a rush. After my daughter got out of school we headed for the nicer CVS, only a town over. Once I got the stroller out for the baby and Jasmine all set we headed inside. Shopping with the kids is easy, Jasmine knows when we go to CVS she’ll be able to scan my CVS card and retrieve the coupons, it’s her favorite part of going.

I never start a trip to CVS without scanning my CVS card first. I did get some coupons but none I could really use. I tucked them away for a later trip. Doing this makes Jasmine feel so important.

I had heard great things about Allegra so the second thing I did once I got inside was hunt down those delightful, almost magical purple boxes of Allegra. There were a lot of choices. Both the CVS stores I visited were pretty well stocked.

I found this nice display, it’s good to know they care. In the month of May you can get a 30-count of Allegra for only $17.99 with your CVS card. I found a $2.00 off coupon and decided to use it on one Allegra 24 hr 5 count box. It was only $4.99 with the coupon. I decided to go with the smaller box because I wanted to make sure it worked before I bought more. I guess you can call it my little trial run. After taking Allegra for a few days I’m definitely going back for more. I even gave my husband a pill the other morning.

I’ve never really taken an allergy medicine before trying Allegra. I normally use a neti pop to clear my sinus and when my allergies are really bad I’ll take a couple Tylenol. The biggest reason I opted to not take allergy medication in the past is because most allergy medicine tends to make me sleepy. I can’t feel tired when taking care of my two very rambunctious kids. I’ve got to make sure I’m on time for the daily carpools, blogging, and keeping up with the chores I need to do. Allegra didn’t give me that tired feeling. I felt good enough to go out and even get my hair done.

I have a confession to make. I love shopping for make-up. I have too much at home but it’s stuff like foundation and concealer that I needed more of. Another confession, I go through a tube of mascara at least once a month. Putting on mascara instantly makes me feel fabulous, the more the better.

I feel fabulous now. I bet my season allergies in the butt with some help from Allegra. It’s amazing that Allegra, a little eye makeup, concealer and lip gloss helped make me feel so fabulous, just in time for Mother’s Day.

Hey there, I’m Tiffany! I’m a work-at-home mom of two rambunctious children (Jasmine, 9 + Sean II, 5) and recently widowed at just 35 years old. I've remarried and currently live right outside of Baton Rouge in Denham Springs, Louisiana with two adoring cats and a dog. Let's connect on Twitter @fabulousmomblog.

  1. You’re pretty!

I have never dealt with allergies although I am starting to think I may have some mild ones. My asthmatic daughter seems to have some too as her skin and eyes are constantly itchy. I am thinking of talking to the doctor about it and seeing what I should give her if it gets bad enough.

I’ve never been to a CVS being Canadian but I would love to check it out. I love the coupon scanning idea!

  2. I have a lot of eye make-up, but never enough concealer/powder in the right colors, lol, that is probably why I don’t wear it very often…but you’re right, it is a fabulous feeling to get dolled up with make up.

  3. I’m glad it helped. I know what you mean about how much fun it is shopping for makeup. I always feel better once I have makeup on too. It’s amazing how a little tube of mascara can make such a difference. By the way, you look fabulous!

  4. Wow, you are just one of those natural beauty DOve girl types aren’t you? You look so pretty and not overly madeup!

It’s hard to hide the affects of allergies, even with makeup so its great you have allegra available to you!

  5. Love the difference between the coffee picture and the last picture. Since I’m breastfeeding I’ve been using a neti pot instead of medicine but I cannot wait to start using Allegra to battle my bad allergies. I get a sinus infection from allergies at least once or twice a year and it’s BAD!
