It’s Mardi Gras season here in Louisiana, which means lots of parades, King Cake, balls, and inevitably a busted phone. Minutes into the Denham Springs Mardi Gras parade, I went for my iPhone that was inside one of the side pockets of Sean’s diaper bag. I guess I pulled it out too fast because it landed face down on the concrete sidewalk. I was scared to turn it over, but I did, and my worst nightmare was starring back at him. I was looking at a 100%-cracked-to-hell phone. I didn’t let that spoil our fun. We didn’t wait 2 hours to be let down by a cracked phone.

We stumbled upon some old friends of ours that we had not seen in years. It was so nice catching up and letting the kids play. Jasmine hid behind the stroller for most of the parade, and Seanie was front and center. I taught him how to get beads thrown his way and before I knew it, the kid was loaded down with beads.

Sean got so many beads that we had to unload them from his neck a few times during the parade. Some of the beads were even longer than him. I think we got this little Louisiana boy used to catching beads. I can’t keep the beads off of his neck; he has been wearing them all day. Seanie was even thrown a big plastic crawfish, a football, a few pieces of candy, a few beer cozies, and plastic cups.

After the parade, we dropped the kids off with Sean’s parents and headed towards the AT&T store. Long story short, Sean and I both ended up leaving with brand new silver iPhone 5s; we are twinning now.

It was so nice to get out a do something as a family. Sean had been on bed rest for nearly 2 weeks following an accident at work where he broke a rib. I can’t wait to do more; spring is coming and hopefully a trip to the beach.

As they say here,  Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Hey there, I’m Tiffany! I’m a work-at-home mom of two rambunctious children (Jasmine, 9 + Sean II, 5) and recently widowed at just 35 years old. 1. One day I would love to go to a Mardi Gras parade.. We’ve been to Disney parades and Fiesta parades but not a Mardi Gras one…

  2. I’ve always wanted to visit NO for Mardi Gras. I’m sorry about the phone but glad you didn’t let it ruin your fun

  3. Oh I feel you on the getting out of the house like “normal” after an injury. My hubs was completely out of family fun commission for 2 months. You are so lucky you were only cooped up for two weeks! We started singing Muppet Treasure Islands “We got cabin fever we’ve lost what sense we had We got cabin fever, we’re all going mad” by the end of December !

I’m also so sorry about your phone! I hate when I drop things.
