Never Fear When Your SmartPhone Is Near

Never fear when your SmartPhone is near and I believe this to be true now more than ever. Last year I had a very fearful moment when an everyday trip to the park turned into a panic to save my daughter from over heating in a locked hot vehicle.

Last spring I took my daughter to the park but I had no idea what kind of ordeal we were about to face. I had Jasmine buckled in her car set in the middle of the back seat in our new truck. I parked the truck grabbed my smartphone and jumped out. I had no idea when I leaned on the door handle to step out of the truck I had hit the lock button. Our previous truck didn’t have automatic locks and I wasn’t use to the new locks yet. I slammed the door behind me and just as the door shut my heart sank to my feet. I knew I had locked my daughter in the truck and the truck was turned off.

I remained claim for my daughter’s sake and immediately called my husband at work because I knew he had the spare key. Without hesitation he headed my way but I knew it would be a while since he was working on the other side of the city. Right after hanging up with my husband I googled the closest locksmith. Seconds later I had someone on the phone from a local pop a lock service. The operator immediately dispatched someone out to me. Thankfully it was overcast that day and it wasn’t too incredibly hot but I knew within a half an hour or so Jasmine would start to get hot and scared. We were alone at the park, no one else in sight so I was so glad I thought to grab my smartphone before locking inadvertently locking Jasmine in the truck. I also called 911 quickly in case Jasmine started to get too hot or passed out.

Within moments I had my husband, pop a lock, the fire department and the police en route. I pulled up YouTube on my phone and found one of Jasmine’s favorite cartoons and held it up to the window for her so she could have a little entertainment. Intermittently I would try to coach her as to take off her seatbelt but she couldn’t get it and I didn’t want her to get frustrated and hot.

The entire ordeal lasted about 45 minutes My husband arrived first with the key just as Jasmine was starting to get hot and scared. By the time everyone else got there Jasmine was out of the truck and smiling in her daddy’s arms. She enjoyed the fire truck coming to her rescue and they were sweet to her. Jasmine was perfectly well so I let her play after all the commotion was over.  Things would have been a lot worse if I hadn’t grabbed my phone first.
