After the age of 30, our skin goes through changes and requires different support than it did when you were younger. It will continue to do so as we have the privilege of aging, and so it’s important to make a few changes in terms of your skincare routine as needed, particularly around that time in your 30’s, when you’ll start to see one of the biggest shifts in how your body responds after your teenage years.

Here are a few ways you can update your skincare after 35 years of age:

1) Gentle Moisturizer

Gentle Moisturizer

There are many different types of moisturizers on the market, from gentle ones, oil-based, sunscreen infused, nutrient heavy, nighttime, etc. While it is helpful to have a couple different types on hand according to your skin’s needs, you always want to ensure you have a gentle moisturizer somewhere in your rotation.

Particularly for those days when your skin is feeling sensitive or just needs a break, opt for a gentle moisturizer during the day and let your skin soak it up and just breathe, without makeup if possible!

2) A Rich Nutrient Moisturizer

In addition to your gentle moisturizer, have a nutrient-rich moisturizer that will give your skin that extra TLC. Using this at night when your skin is in recovery will help it to absorb all the nutrients and benefits packed into the moisturizer. Bonus points if you have a silk pillowcase and/or sleep on your back to ensure your powerful product stays on your skin throughout the night to do its best work.

3) A Nourishing Mask

A nourishing mask can have an instant impact on your skin, and with consistent use, it can offer a step up from your daily skincare routine to help your skin get to the next level.

The Blue Lagoon Silica mask, for example, is the perfect one to help nourish the skin and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Many people find that after using a nourishing mask, the rest of their skincare products absorb better.

4) Mineral Sunscreen

Mineral sunscreen is essential to help protect your skin. Your skin becomes thinner and at greater risk for damage as you age, and while ideally you start as young as possible, this is the time to really make sure you are consistent with your sunscreen use. Apply in the morning, and re-apply as needed, every day.

5) Anti-Oxidant Serum

An antioxidant serum such as one with vitamin C helps protect your skin and fight against free radical damage. It helps your skin produce collagen, brightens your complexion, and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
