Do you wake up in your bedroom every morning and breathe a sigh of utter disappointment? Sigh, you think, Back in this dump again. Your walls look like something you’d bring up on a Saturday night, your bed is as comfortable as Chinese water torture and there are more clothes piled up on your floor than in the worst launderette in the world.

Yeah, it might be time for a bedroom overhaul. But what changes should you make for a room that’ll have you waking up with glee?

Flooring of the gods

Imagine walking into your bedroom, only to be greeted by hardwood flooring that’s colder than the Antarctic. Your feet would be blocks of ice before you even shaggy rugsclambered into bed. The head and the feet are the most important parts of your body to keep warm, regulating your temperature.

To quell those frozen cockles, invest in some bedroom mats in prime spots of your room and, if your wallet’s feeling too heavy, purchase underfloor heating. Your feet will never feel cold again.

A perfect snooze

The perfect bed is like a journey to utopia for some people – they travel everywhere, searching for someplace that will give them back support and feel soft, but never find that one good night’s sleep.

Instead, invest in a goose down pillow. They’re softer, more luxurious and won’t strain your neck after a good night’s sleep.

Next up, make sure you’ve got the right under-sheet on your bed, looking for quality not cheapness. Even the most uncomfortable bed can be made comfier with decent sheets, so don’t skimp.

Make your wall the main feature

A feature wall, as it’s known, is one of the best ways to give your bedroom a sense of style – and it’s cheap, too.

But what is it? Essentially, it’s using one wall as a focal point for the rest of the room by giving it a distinctive wallpaper or paint job, leaving the other walls comparatively blank. It’s the ideal way to draw the eye somewhere stylish, impressing visitors with your sense of style.

Not only this, set up a few shelves on your wall, placing some ornaments or books on it to give the place some character. Manage all this and you’ll be waking up with a jaunty whistle at the start of your day.
